Leksykon zawiera kompletny wykaz istot duchowych (określanych w źródłach przede wszystkim jako moce) wymienionych z imienia w tekstach z Nag Hammadi oraz w tekstach im pokrewnych z kodeksów Tchacos i Berolinensis Gnosticus. Istoty te zostały ukazane na szerokim tle tekstów mocy rytualnej (czyli tzw. tekstów magicznych): papirusów magicznych, defixiones, lamellae oraz inskrypcji na amuletach wykonanych z kamieni szlachetnych i półszlachetnych. Całość uzupełniono wypisami z literatury patrystycznej.
