Ryszard Stefan Kuraś - urodził się 5 grudnia 1935 r. w Polsce na Podolu w osadzie Czarnołozy, powiat kopyczyniecki, województwo tarnopolskie. W lutym 1940 r. w wieku 5 lat został wywieziony razem z rodzicami, braćmi i bliską rodziną na Sybir. Pod koniec 1941 r. rozpoczęła się ich tułaczka z Syberii przez Kazachstan, Uzbekistan, Persję i Indie do Afryki, gdzie osiedlono ich najpierw w Mozambiku, a potem w Rodezji w obozie dla uchodźców.
