Tadeusz Wittlin (1909-1998) ukończył prawo na Uniwersytecie Warszawskim; od 1931 roku był współpracownikiem, a następnie zastępcą redaktora naczelnego tygodnika satyrycznego ,,Cyrulik Warszawski", gdzie zamieszczał teksty pod pseudonimem ,,Tadzio - Tadzio". Zadebiutował w 1929 roku tomem poetyckim Trasa na Parnas. Był członkiem angielskiego i amerykańskiego PEN - Clubu. Tadeusz Wittlin poświęcił kilka książek barwnym postaciom Warszawy, jak np.: Ostatnia cyganeria; Pieśniarka Warszawy - Hanka Ordonówna i jej świat; Nad szarej Wisły brzegiem, Szabla i koń - Gawęda o Wieniawie
