Bohdan Zadura znany jest od lat jako wybitny poeta (debiutował w 1962 roku), prozaik, krytyk literacki i tłumacz (przekłada prozę i poezję z języka angielskiego, węgierskiego i ukraińskiego), od 2004 roku jest redaktorem naczelnym najstarszego pisma literackiego w Polsce Twórczości.
Wielokrotnie wyróżniany i nagradzany ostatnio (w 2018 rok) otrzymał Wrocławską Nagrodę Poetycką Silesius za całokształt twórczości.
